2026-2027 Mountain Valley Chapter Elections
The Mountain Valley Chapter of ASSP will be holding elections for chapter officers and chairs. Elections are for the 2026-2027 year, which begins July 1, 2026. The official ballot with instructions on how to vote will be sent out on April 14th and the ballot will close on May 5th. The ballot will be emailed out by ASSP Chapter Services, members that have unsubscribed from chapter email will not receive a ballot in their inbox. Please review the ballot slate for each position below.
President
Amanda C Sandidge Engstrom, CIH, CSP

Amanda has been working under the umbrella of EHS for 15 years focusing on different areas with each new project and career move. Following graduation from Hollins University with a degree in Environmental Studies and one year of service as an AmeriCorps VISTA working at a watershed conservation group, they initially worked as a consultant and field technician on environmental site assessments and industrial hygiene (IH) services. They have served as an EHS Program manager supporting and developing EHS initiatives for a large-scale automotive retailer, earning their CIH and CSP along the way. Amanda is currently a Senior Industrial Hygienist at Froehling and Robertson and serves as Secretary for the ASSP Mountain Valley Chapter.
Vice President (Former President)
E. Glenn Hargrove, CIH, CSP, CHMM, PG

Glenn has over 35 years of experience in the health and safety field and has been a member of the ASSP and the local Mountain Valley Chapter since 2017. Glenn is currently the President for the Chapter and also serves as the Membership Chair. Glenn is employed by Froehling and Robertson, Inc., where he fills the role of the Director of Industrial Hygiene and also serves as an industrial hygiene Practice Leader for F&R. While primarily focused on oversight of industrial hygiene, he also is involved with site safety of F&R team members, development of Job Hazard Analyses (JHA), Task Hazard Analyses (THA) and Health and Safety Plans (HASP).
Glenn holds a Bachelor of Science (1985) in Geology from Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU). Glenn is licensed as a Professional Geologist in the state of Virginia, and is accredited by the Board for Global EHS Credentialing (BGC) as a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), the Institute of Hazardous Materials Management (IHMM) as a Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) and holds the professional designation of a Certified Safety Professional.
Treasurer
Jesse D. Phillips, CIH, CSP, CHMM

Jesse has over 20 years of experience in the health and safety field and has been a member of the ASSP and the local Mountain Valley Chapter since 2020. Jesse is currently the Secretary for the Chapter and also assists with various Chapter members for monthly meetings and other matters. Jesse is employed by Clinchfield Consulting Group., where he fills the role of Program Manager. Jesse Phillips is developing a key role within the organization as a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), & Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM). He manages Industrial Hygiene Programs for the Class I railroad industry, with a primary focus on asset management.
Jesse holds a Bachelor of Science (2002) in Environmental Science and Philosophy from Roanoke College. Jesse is accredited by the Board for Global EHS Credentialing (BGC) as a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) and holds the professional designation of a Certified Safety Professional (CSP).
Secretary
Carlton Davis, MSOS, CSP

Carlton, a US Navy veteran, holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Communications, a Master of Science degree in Occupational Safety, and the professional credentials of CSP.
Carlton has been a full-time professional in safety and health for over 19 years. He has been an active member of the Mountain Valley Chapter of ASSP holding the positions of Programs Chair, Delegate, and Chapter President (6yrs). Carlton is a Safety Manager at TLP Management Services, a bulk liquid chemical storage & distribution firm, where he has developed safety and health policies, training, and internal auditing programs for their 50+ facilities nationwide.
